When we take into consideration the environmental impact of a product over the lifetime of that product i.e. from manufacture right through to end use, the most environmentally friendly toilet paper is the true portion controlled Centrepull toilet tissue for the following reasons:
- The source paper comes from manufactures with at least one internationally recognized environmental certification (generally PEFC plus one other).
- The trees used in the paper manufacture are from established managed and sustainable forests.
- The dispensing system used to dispense the paper means that the paper doesn’t “free flow” i.e. keep rolling off the roll. This means that only 660mm of paper is used per use as opposed to 1500mm of paper per use for conventional toilet tissue. In turn this means less paper is being used.
- Because less paper is being used that means less packaging is required which in turn means less waste to landfill.
- As an extra bonus, because less paper is being used that means the person paying for the paper saves money in comparison to traditional toilet tissue.
